A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN
THE AMOUNT OF $146,439 TO CORTEZ CONSTRUCTION CO.,
INC., A COLORADO CORPORATION, AND SETTING FORTH
$14,643.90 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK
FOR PROJECT NO. 20-063 PUEBLO FIRE STATIONS 5 AND 7 –
BATHROOM REMODEL AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING
AGENT TO EXECUTE SAME
WHEREAS, proposals for Project No. 20-063 Pueblo Fire Stations 5 and 7 – Bathroom
Remodel, have been received and examined, and;
WHEREAS, the proposal of Cortez Construction Co., Inc., of Pueblo, Colorado, was the
lowest of those bids determined to be responsible; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract for Project No. 20-063 Pueblo Fire Stations 5 and 7 – Bathroom Remodel, is
hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $146,439.00.
SECTION 2.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo,
a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the
same.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount of
$14,643.90 is hereby authorized for contingencies and additional work.
SECTION 4.
Funds for said Project shall be from account CI1823 – Fire Station Bathrooms.
SECTION 5.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 6.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
This Resolution awards a construction contract to Cortez Construction Co., Inc., for Fire Stations
5 and 7 bathroom remodel. They were deemed to be the most responsible bidder and awarded
the contract.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
On September November 26, 2018, through Ordinance No. 9392, City Council approved to
establish Capital Project CI1823 – Fire Station Bathrooms.
BACKGROUND:
This Project will remodel the bathrooms at Fire Stations 5 and 7 creating separate gender specific
showers and restrooms.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funding (including contingencies) in the amount of $161,082.90 will be paid from account CI1823.
