HomeMy WebLinkAbout14530RESOLUTION NO. 14530 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PUEBLO URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY TO UNDERTAKE ACTIONS FACILITATING REHABILITATION OF THE HOLMES HARDWARE PROPERTY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE URBAN RENEWAL PLAN FOR THE UNION AVENUE URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT AREA (“PLAN”) WHEREAS, the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority (the “Authority”) has received a proposal for the rehabilitation of certain property (the “Holmes Hardware Property”) pursuant to the above Plan that includes (a) use of a portion of the municipal sales tax increment produced on the property; (b) consideration of a minor modification of the Plan; and (c) agreements involving the City, the Authority, and the proposed redeveloper; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The City Council authorizes the Authority to prepare for future consideration by the City Council a minor modification of the Plan together with any agreements required to implement such modification in accordance with the Colorado Urban Renewal Law. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution which are necessary or appropriate to implement the transactions described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage. Pacheco, Executive Director SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PUEBLO URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY TO UNDERTAKE ACTIONS FACILITATING REHABILITATION OF THE HOLMES HARDWARE PROPERTY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE URBAN RENEWAL PLAN FOR THE UNION AVENUE URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT AREA (“PLAN”) SUMMARY: The Resolution authorizes the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority (the “Authority”) to undertake actions with the goal of rehabilitating the Holmes Hardware Property located at 400 S. Union Avenue, Pueblo, Colorado 81003. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: By Ordinance No. 8093 dated October 26, 2009, the Pueblo City Council approved the Urban Renewal Plan for the Union Avenue Project Area (the “Plan”), which Plan is being carried out by the Authority. BACKGROUND: The Authority has received a proposal from Full Plate Management, LLC (the “Developer”) for redevelopment and rehabilitation of the Holmes Hardware Property (the “Holmes Hardware Rehabilitation”). This Resolution authorizes the Authority to take appropriate actions to begin the process for implementing the Holmes Hardware Rehabilitation. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Resolution. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: City and Authority Staff have met with the Developer to begin the process for eventual rehabilitation of the Holmes Hardware Property. ALTERNATIVES: Denial of this Resolution will result in the Holmes Hardware Property not being redeveloped. RECOMMENDATION: The Mayor recommends approval of the Resolution.
