HomeMy WebLinkAbout14526 RESOLUTION NO. 14526 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2020 GENERAL FUND BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,500) TO BE PAID TO ROCKY MOUNTAIN PBS TO ASSIST WITH THE PRODUCTION OF A DOCUMENTARY CONCERNING THE FLOOD WHICH OCCURRED IN THE CITY ON JUNE 3, 1921 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500) from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2020 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Rocky Mountain PBS to produce a “Colorado Experience” episode about the June 3, 1921 flood which occurred in the City. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Brenda Armijo, City Clerk FROM: Laura Solano, Chief of Staff SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2020 GENERAL FUND BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,500) TO BE PAID TO ROCKY MOUNTAIN PBS TO ASSIST WITH THE PRODUCTION OF A DOCUMENTARY CONCERNING THE FLOOD WHICH OCCURRED IN THE CITY ON JUNE 3, 1921 SUMMARY: This Resolution provides financial assistance to Rocky Mountain PBS (“RMPBS”) to produce a documentary about the Great Pueblo Flood of 1921. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: No previous action. BACKGROUND: RMPBS produces a public television series called “Colorado Experience” which explores the people, events and places which have shaped the history of our state. RMPBS proposes to produce a “Colorado Experience” episode about the June 3, 1921 flood which remains Pueblo’s worst natural disaster. RMPBS is soliciting funds from the private and public sectors to finance the project. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $7,500 will be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2020 General Fund Budget to RMPBS. The Mayor has also agreed to contribute $7,500 from the Mayor’s Contingencies Account for a total contribution of $15,000 from City government for the project. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to support this RMPBS project. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
