HomeMy WebLinkAbout14479 RESOLUTION NO. 14479 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO BOULDER APPLICATION FOR A NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR HUMANITIES ARCHEOLOGICAL AND ETHNOGRAPHIC FIELD RESEARCH GRANT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Pueblo, Colorado hereby declares its support for the University of Colorado Boulder application for a National Endowment for Humanities Archeological and Ethnographic Field Research Grant. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. Flores SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO BOULDER APPLICATION FOR A NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR HUMANITIES ARCHEOLOGICAL AND ETHNOGRAPHIC FIELD RESEARCH GRANT SUMMARY: Council President Dennis E. Flores received a request for support of this grant application. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: No previous action. BACKGROUND: City Council President Dennis E. Flores received a request for support of a grant application by the University of Colorado Boulder. Their goal in receiving this grant is to engage in a comprehensive study of the music and music making of Pueblo, CO and the surrounding county. A digital archive will be created of interviews and performances that will be accessible to the general public through the University of Colorado Libraries. Educational materials will also be provided to K-12 educators on individual artists and musical practices. The grant would support research beginning in Fall 2021. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The grant will provide up to $150,000 for two years of research. The $20,000 required match will be raised by the University of Colorado Boulder. There are no funds requested from City Council. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to support this Resolution. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of City Council President Dennis Flores. Attachments: Proposed Resolution
