A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $34,450.20 TO HUSKY
SIGNS + GRAPHICS FOR PROJECT NO. DT1401, PUEBLO
WAYFINDING SIGNS PHASE II, SETTING FORTH A
CONTINGENCY IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,674.80 AND
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE
SAME
WHEREAS, proposals for DT1401, Wayfinding Signs Phase II Project have been
received and examined; and,
WHEREAS, the proposal of Husky Signs + Graphics dba Husky Creative of
Boulder, Colorado was the only bid and was determined to be responsible; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
A contract for Project DT1401, Wayfinding Signs Phase II Project is hereby
awarded to said bidder in the amount of $34,450.20.
SECTION 2.
Funds in the amount of $34,450.20 shall be available from Project DT1401,
Wayfinding Signs Phase II Project.
SECTION 3.
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional
amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional
work.
Contingencies and Additional Work . . . . $3,674.80
SECTION 4.
The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of
the City of Pueblo, a Colorado Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the
seal of the City thereto and attest the same.
SECTION 5.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and
all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to implement the transactions
described therein.
SECTION 6.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval.

SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE
AMOUNT OF $34,450.20 TO HUSKY SIGNS + GRAPHICS FOR
PROJECT NO. DT1401, PUEBLO WAYFINDING SIGNS PHASE II,
SETTING FORTH A CONTINGENCY IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,674.80 AND
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE SAME
SUMMARY:
This Resolution awards a construction contract to Husky Signs + Graphics, dba Husky
Creative of Boulder, Colorado. Husky Creative was the only bid determined to be
responsible and will be awarded a contract in the amount of $34,450.20. A contingency
of $3,674.80 will be set forth for unforeseen circumstances.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Ordinance 8706, dated March 10, 2014, established project DT1401, Wayfinding Signs
Phase II Project, approved contract, M086-067 (19287) with CDOT and budgeted,
transferred and appropriated a total of $51,625.
Resolution 13827, dated November 27, 2017, approved an agreement for professional
services with Walden Mils Group, in the amount of $8,000.
Ordinance 9429, dated March 13, 2019, amended the agreement for professional
services with Walden Mills Group to increase the agreement by a total of $5,500.
BACKGROUND:
The Project will retrofit six (6) of the existing wayfinding signs with updated messaging.
One of the existing signs will be relocated and a new directional sign will be installed
focusing on the route from Interstate 25 on City Center linking with Union Avenue and the
Visitor Center in downtown Pueblo. A total of eight (8) signs were included in the project;
however, the budget only permits six (6) of the signs to be retrofit. The signs chosen by
the Committee of Awards, to be included in the construction, are signs A1 through A4, A7
and A8. The cost for these signs is a total of $34,450.20. Signs A5 and A6 will remain in
place and will not be included in the retrofit. The bid for these two (2) remaining signs is
$5,452.59 each, for a total of $10,905.18.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $34,450.20 shall be paid from the Wayfinding Signs Phase II
Project, DT1401.

None.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
None.
ALTERNATIVES:
Denial of this Resolution will result in cancellation of the Project.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of this Resolution.
