A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2020 GENERAL FUND
BUDGET TO THE CHAVEZ HUERTA K-12 PREPARATORY
ACADEMY IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,200 TO PURCHASE A TABLE
FOR THE 14TH ANNUAL SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP DINNER
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,200 from the Council Contingencies Account in the
2020 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the Chavez Huerta K-12

Preparatory Academy for table sponsorship to the 14 Annual Senior Scholarship Dinner.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and
all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and
procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for table sponsorship consideration from the
Chavez Huerta K-12 Preparatory Academy.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
City Council contributed to this event in 2014.
BACKGROUND:

City Council Member Dennis Flores is requesting the purchase of a table at the 14
Annual Senior Scholarship Dinner. All proceeds from this special event will be divided
among the qualifying seniors to help with the costs of tuition and books.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $1,200 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2020 General Fund Budget to the Chavez Huerta Preparatory Academy.

Not Applicable.

ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to support this resolution.

Dear Community Member:
Dolores Huerta Preparatory Academy is currently planning our 14th Annual Senior Scholarship Dinner
featuring Comedian Carlos Mencia. This year's event celebrates the 20th Anniversary themed Fin
Gene of Pueblo's Education will be held Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Pueblo Convention Center and
will offer fabulous entertainment and the opportunity to help raise funds to defray the cost of a student's
college education.
Our dedicated educators recognize that quality education is vital to the future success of our students and
we are committed to preparing them for the future. We ask that you please consider the enclosed
sponsorship opportunities.
All proceeds from this special event will be divided among our qualifying seniors to help with the costs of
tuition and books. You may also consider participating in one of the following areas:
➢ Individual Event Tickets at $60 each
➢ Monetary Donations
• Corporate Table Sponsorships ($1,200 for a table of 10)
