SWERDFEGER CONSTRUCTION, INC., AND SETTING FORTH $117,271 FOR CONTINGENCIES, FOR PROJECT NO. 19-051 (WW1901) 2019 CDOT FRONTAGE ROAD MM100 – 101 UPSIZING REHABILITATION PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, competitive bids for PROJECT NO. 19-051 (WW1901), FY2019 CDOT Frontage Road MM 100 – 101 Upsizing Rehabilitation Project have been received and examined, and; WHEREAS, the proposal of K.R. Swerdfeger Construction, Inc., of Pueblo, Co, was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible, and the Committee of Awards recommends to the City Council that it authorize PROJECT NO. 19-051 (WW1901) to be performed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. City Council authorizes PROJECT NO. 19-051 (WW1901), FY2019 CDOT Frontage Road MM 100 – 101 Upsizing Rehabilitation Project, to be performed, and the contract for said project is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $586,354. SECTION 2. Funds for PROJECT NO. 19-051 (WW1901) shall be from Sewer User Fund. SECTION 3. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 4. In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution and the contract approved to effectuate the policies and procedures described therein. SECTION 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Swerdfeger Construction, Inc. for Project No.19-051 (WW1901), FY2019 CDOT Frontage Road MM 100 – 101 Upsizing th Rehabilitation Project located north of West 30 Street and west of I-25. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION : None BACKGROUND : th This project, located north of West 30 Street and west of I-25 South, consists of removing and replacing sewer pipeline, manholes, asphalt, curb and gutter, and other related items. Over the years, surrounding areas to the north, west, and south of the project site have been developed with various commercial and industrial businesses, and the area to the east has been developed with Interstate 25. The existing 8-inch diameter sewer pipe has many maintenance issues, including condition and size of pipe for existing flow. In order to maintain the intended function of the sewer line and secure a continuous service to this area, the existing main sewer pipeline needs to be upsized to 12 inches in diameter. The subject site is relatively undeveloped with the exception of a partially paved asphalt access road at the south of the site. Therefore, an access road was designed from the paved asphalt to the north to provide maintenance access in case of emergency repairs. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS : The cost of the construction project was bid at $586,354. Funds are available from the Sewer User Funds and have been budgeted and appropriated to Project No. 19-051 (WW1901). BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION : Not applicable STAKEHOLDER PROCESS : None ALTERNATIVES : Alternative No. 1 – No Action In the event of no action being taken, the mains will continue to be a maintenance issue for the collection crew while continuing to deteriorate.
