HomeMy WebLinkAbout14316 RESOLUTION NO. 14316 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR FIRE EQUIPMENT TO THE BLACK HILLS CORPORATION FOUNDATION AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAME BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The grant application for the Black Hills Corporation Foundation Grant, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved, and the Mayor is authorized to execute same on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation. SECTION 2. The grant application is for an award of $55,874.70 for tactical equipment. If the grant is awarded, no matching funds will be required. SECTION 3. The officers of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage. Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Brenda Armijo, City Clerk FROM: Barbara Huber, Fire Chief – Fire Department SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR FIRE EQUIPMENT TO THE BLACK HILLS CORPORATION FOUNDATION AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAME SUMMARY: This resolution authorizes the filing of an application for a Black Hills Corporation Foundation Grant to purchase tactical vests and helmets. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: The Black Hills Corporation Foundation Grant would award the Pueblo Fire Department a no- match grant in the amount of $55,874.70 to purchase vital life-saving resources for members of the Pueblo Fire Department. The grant monies would allow for the purchase of tactical vests and helmets to appropriately handle risks in the event of an active shooter situation. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The total request will be for $55,874.70. There is no required match for this grant as Black Hills Corporation Foundation will completely fund the grant. Staff time will be required for project management, as well as grant monitoring and reporting. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable. ALTERNATIVES: None. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
