Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Brenda Armijo, City Clerk FROM: City Council Member Bob Schilling SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2019 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000 TO FUND THE LARGE HOLIDAY LIGHTING DISPLAY AT HEADWATER’S PLAZA SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is a request from Pueblo Downtown Association for funds to help pay for the holiday lighting display at Headwater’s Plaza. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None BACKGROUND: Council Member Bob Schilling is requesting $5,000 to assist the Pueblo Downtown Association in paying for the large holiday lighting display that will be placed at Headwater’s Plaza. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $5,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2019 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Downtown Association. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize the additional funds request. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Bob Schilling. Attachments: Attached is a funding request from the Pueblo Downtown Association. RESOLUTION NO. 14311 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2019 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000 TO FUND THE LARGE HOLIDAY LIGHTING DISPLAY AT HEADWATER’S PLAZA BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $5,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2019 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Downtown Association to assist in the funding of the large holiday display at Headwater’s Plaza. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. The display currently consists of a large tree created with lights,hanging decorations on trees and lights on surrounding trees and poles. Our investment in this project each year amounts to between$5,000 and$6,000,expansion will add somewhat to the cost.
