HomeMy WebLinkAbout14307 RESOLUTION NO. 14307 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR A FIREHOUSE SUBS PUBLIC SAFETY FOUNDATIONS GRANT AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAME BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The grant application for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundations Grant, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved, and the Mayor is authorized to execute same on behalf of Pueblo, a municipal corporation. SECTION 2. The grant application is for an award of $23,300.00 for decontamination equipment. If the grant is awarded, no matching funds will be required. SECTION 3. The officers of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage. Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Brenda Armijo, City Clerk FROM: Barbara Huber, Fire Chief – Fire Department A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A SUBJECT: GRANT APPLICATION FOR A FIREHOUSE SUBS PUBLIC SAFETY FOUNDATIONS GRANT AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAME SUMMARY: This resolution authorizes the filing of an application for a Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundations Grant to purchase a self-contained breathing apparatus decontamination washer. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: The Mission of Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundations is to impact the lifesaving capabilities, and the lives of local first responders and their communities. This is accomplished by providing lifesaving equipment to first responders and public safety organizations. The City of Pueblo Fire Department would like to apply for a grant to purchase an SCBA decontamination washer for a total of $23,300.00. This decontamination washer is an automatic washing machine specifically designed to thoroughly wash the entire SCBA, including the facepieces. The thorough cleaning of the SCBA is critical in reducing the exposure of cancer-causing toxins to firefighters. If we are awarded this grant, Firehouse Subs will pay for the total cost of the decontamination washer. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The total request will be for $23,300.00. There is no required match for this grant as Firehouse Subs will completely pay for this decontamination washer. Staff time will be required for project management, as well as grant monitoring and reporting. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable. ALTERNATIVES: None. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
