A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2019
GENERAL FUND BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $250 TO
THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT
OF COLORED PEOPLE (NAACP) FOR THE ANNUAL
FREEDOM FUND BANQUET
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $250 from the Council Contingencies Account in the
2019 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Pueblo Branch # 4005.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and
all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and
procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a sponsorship request for the NAACP Annual Freedom Fund
Banquet.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
No previous council actions.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Ed Brown is requesting this sponsorship to support the NAACP
Annual Freedom Fund Banquet. This year’s theme is “Respect the Past, By Changing
the Future”. It will focus on bringing the Old and Young together for the betterment of our
city, state and country.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $250 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2019 General Fund Budget to the National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People (NCAAP) Pueblo Branch #4005.

#4005, will be hosting our annual Freedom Fund banquet, Friday, October,i"2019, 6:00PM, Pueblo
Union Depot, 132 West "B" Street, Pueblo, Colorado, 81003.
Our theme is "Respect the Past, By Changing the Future" will focus on bringing the Old
and Young together for the betterment of our city, state and country. The guest speaker is Dr. James
Pogue, CEO of James Pogue Enterprises, Plano, Texas. As a Researcher, Professor and
Administrator, Dr. Pogue focuses on Diversity, Inclusion and Unconscious Bias. His work includes,
Multigenerational Leadership. He speaks throughout the United States and International on leading
in the 21st Century, merging generational divides effecting successful outcomes in the work place.
We invite you to assist us in making this a successful event, by being a part of this celebration
