HomeMy WebLinkAbout09541ORDINANCE NO. 9541 AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 FROM THE ROBERT HOAG RAWLINGS FOUNDATION AND FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000 FROM PUEBLO BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND CONNECT CHARTER SCHOOL IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 FOR THE GATEWAY TO THE SOUTHWEST I-25 ART PROJECT AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $150,500 TO CAPITAL PROJECT PL1801 WHEREAS, The Gateway to the Southwest I-25 Art Project, PL1801 has been established; and, WHEREAS, the third of three donations in the amount of $100,000 has been offered by the Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation towards the Project; and, WHEREAS, a contribution in the amount of $50,000 has been offered by the Pueblo Board of County Commissioners towards the Project; and, WHEREAS, a donation in the amount of $500 has been offered by the Connect Charter School towards the Project; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Funds in the amount of $100,000 from the Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation are hereby authorized to be accepted for the Gateway to the Southwest I-25 Art Project. SECTION 2. Funds in the amount of $50,000 from the Pueblo Board of County Commissioners are hereby authorized to be accepted for the Gateway to the Southwest I-25 Art Project. SECTION 3. Funds in the amount of $500 from the Connect Charter School are hereby authorized to be accepted for the Gateway to the Southwest I-25 Art Project. SECTION 4. Funds in the amount of $150,500 are hereby budgeted and appropriated to Capital Project PL1801, Gateway to the Southwest I-25 Art Project. SECTION 5. The officers and staff of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and all acts consistent with this Ordinance to implement the policies and procedures established herein. SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Brenda Armijo, City Clerk FROM: Scott Hobson, Acting Director of Planning and Community Development SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 FROM THE ROBERT HOAG RAWLINGS FOUNDATION AND FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000 FROM PUEBLO BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND CONNECT CHARTER SCHOOL IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 FOR THE GATEWAY TO THE SOUTHWEST I-25 ART PROJECT AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $150,500 TO CAPITAL PROJECT PL1801 SUMMARY: This Ordinance accepts a donation from the Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation in the amount of $100,000 which is the third of three payments of their $300,000 donation to the Project. Also being accepted is a contribution in the amount of $50,000 from the Pueblo Board of County Commissioners and a donation in the amount of $500 from the Connect Charter School. Total funds in the amount of $150,500 will be budgeted and appropriated to Project PL1801, Gateway to the Southwest I-25 Art Project. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: On January 22, 2019, City Council accepted $100,000, the first of three payments, and on April 8, 2019, City Council accepted $100,000, the second of three payments of a $300,000 donation from the Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation for the Project. BACKGROUND: The Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation has pledged a $300,000 donation towards the Gateway to the Southwest I-25 Art Project. This donation is the third of three payments and fulfills their pledge commitment. The Pueblo Board of County Commissioners has contributed $50,000 toward the Project. The Connect Charter School students have collected and donated $500 to the Project. The City Planning Department is currently involved in raising funds for the Project. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $150,500 will be deposited, budgeted and appropriated into Project PL1801, Gateway to the Southwest I-25 Art Project.
