Flores and Members of City Council CC: Nicholas A. Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Brenda Armijo, City Clerk FROM: Jeff Hawkins, Director of Stormwater SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $88,579 TO 53 CORPORATION, LLC, AND SETTING FORTH $13,000 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK FOR PROJECT NO. 19-025 – FOUNTAIN CREEK ACCESS ROAD REPAIR PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME SUMMARY: This resolution awards a Construction Contract to 53 Corporation, LLC for the Fountain Creek Access Road Repair project. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Resolution #9359. This ordinance budgeted and appropriated the funds for FEMA disaster relief projects. BACKGROUND: In general, this project will consist of bank stabilization and repair of an access road along Fountain Creek that was damaged as a result of flooding. The work will consist of earthwork (cut and fill), structural fill, compaction testing, road base installation, revegetation, and other incidental items related to the construction as detailed in the plans and specifications for this project. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funding for this project will be paid from funds available for Fountain Creek floodplain and levee repair. Funding is available and has been budgeted, appropriated, and allocated to Project No. 19-025 (SW1704). BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: Alternative No. 1 - No action Under this alternative, the access road would remain in a state of disrepair, and since the road embankment acts as a levee, high water levels in Fountain Creek could cause potential overtopping and flooding of adjacent properties and public roadways, causing safety hazards, possible monetary damage, and more costs to repair the damage. RECOMMENDATION : Approval of the Resolution.
