The "Song of Pueblo" is an oratorio that tells the history of Pueblo and southern Colorado in a highly entertaining way. It was written by the renowned California playwright, Daniel Valdez, and includes reenactment video and historical stills along with 100% live music and narration. It's a Pueblo story that runs the gamut of emotions. "Song" can be a destination offering for Pueblo. The production represents the various ethnic aspects of early Pueblo in songs such as "Elm Street" (Italian), "Bojon Town" (Slovenian), "Founders' Fandango" (Mexican), "Mississippi Saints" (Mormon settlers), and Southern Colorado events such as those at Sand Creek and Ludlow. Your sponsorship at the $1000 level will help provide support to pay the cost of the musicians, venue rentals, and programs for the four live concerts scheduled between June and September. The back cover of the free souvenir program has been reserved for the City of Pueblo to show its support for this Pueblo treasure. Sponsors will be noted in the video credits at the end of each performance. "Song" has no paid staff and is administered by a volunteer dedicated to this portrayal of a strong and diverse Pueblo. Puebloans, Coloradans and visitors alike will come to see this show throughout the summer at the Hoag Theater on the Pueblo Community College campus (June 21, July 19, and August 9), and school children will see a shortened version in September, thanks to a generous grant from the Robert Hoag Rawlings Foundation. Pueblo City School is covering the cost of transportation. "Song of Pueblo" debuted at the Sangre De Cristo Arts Center in 2008 and has performed over 50 shows since then. It is so well-liked that several attendees have seen it 10 or more times. In 2019, the show was enhanced in several ways — new performers, images, and videos. This signals an exciting new era for "Song of Pueblo." The new Song of Pueblo Ensemble features the following all-star musicians: Felicia Gallegos Pettis - vocals and narration, Carlos Crull - vocals and Native American flute, Shane Trout - drums, Aaron Clemente - guitar, Alan Polivka - accordion and musical director. Juan Espinosa directed and filmed the reenactment scenes at El Pueblo History Museum among other sites. Deborah Espinosa guides the program and forged a partnership with City Schools to include "Song" in the Local History Curriculum, which students will follow throughout the school year. Please support "Song of Pueblo" with your sponsorship of $1000. Thank you. Deborah Espinosa, Producer Juan Espinosa, Artistic Director
