A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2019
GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE PUEBLO CITY
SCHOOLS SUMMER MUSICAL IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,000 FOR CENTER STAGE LEVEL SPONSORSHIP
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the
2019 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the Pueblo City Schools Summer
Musical for Center Stage Level Sponsorship.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and
all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and
procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a sponsorship request from the Pueblo Summer Musical
Fundraising Committee.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
City Council contributed to this event in 2018.
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Ray Aguilera is requesting the sponsorship to help with the many
production expenses. The Pueblo Summer Musical is a tradition that began in August of
1959. This summer will mark 61 years of bringing unique performances to Pueblo
Audiences. Each year this Pueblo tradition impacts 75 -100 young actors and musicians
from all corners of Pueblo and surrounding areas.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2019 General Fund Budget to the Pueblo City Schools Summer Musical

Dear Mayor Nick Gradisar,
Thank you to City Council for your financial contribution to the Pueblo Summer Musical last year.Your support
of this Pueblo tradition was greatly appreciated and helped with our 60`h Anniversary Celebration.And our
sincere thanks to Councilman Ray Aguilera for his enthusiastic backing of the Musical.This is an amazing
program that has showcases the tremendous talent of young people in and around Pueblo.
Our request this year is later than in previous years as we were waiting to receive the rights to"Hello
Dolly" and approval for insurance from Pueblo City Schools. If you choose to donate and have your
name listed as a sponsor in the program, payment should be received by Friday,June 21, 2019.
Our Fundraising Committee is asking that you consider the$1,000 Center Stage Level Sponsorship to
help with the many production expenses listed in the Sponsorship letter. Putting on a production of this
magnitude on requires many costs not covered by ticket sales. It is necessary for us to ask for
community support and Sponsorship for the Musical to continue.
If you are able to help again this year,the information on how to participate is included in the Sponsorship
letter.The dates and times of"Hello Dolly"are also listed in the letter, so please mark your calendar and plan
to attend!

In August of 1959 a tradition in Pueblo was born, the Summer Musical. What Summer 2019
began as a chance for kids to do musical theater has continued. This summer
will mark the 61 years of bringing unique performances to Pueblo audiences!! Broadway
Each year this Pueblo tradition impacts 75-100 young actors and musicians
from all corners of the Pueblo and surrounding areas. For six nights every Musical
July, nearly 3,000 community members have gathered to watch the stage
come alive!
Because ticket sales alone cannot cover our costs, we ask that you consider HELLO, mot
becoming one of our donors. Sponsorships and advertising help generate
much-needed revenue for our program and will be used to help offset
production expenses, such as sets, royalties, venue, costumes, publicity and
personnel. All of these expenses allow our cast and crew to produce the Show Dates
highest quality shows to match the superior talent being cultivated by the
youth of Pueblo. Please consider helping us provide invaluable educational July 14&15 2:00 pm
experiences and quality entertainment for our community. July 16-19 Too pm
Donations from friends at any level are welcome, and we ask that you Cost $12.00

$250 Applause Level sponsors will receive 2 Tickets to performance of 210 N. Santa Fe

$500 Spotlight Level sponsors will receive all of the above plus 719-295-7200
recognition in curtain speech and recognition on the PCS Fine

$1000 Center Stage Level sponsors will receive all of the above plus
lobby recognition during performance and a signed cast picture. both Anniversary
Show
$2000 Encore Level sponsors will receive all of the above, a cameo
part in the production (if desired), recognition on Posters and all Les Miserables
media or promotional materials. 2018
