HomeMy WebLinkAbout14200RESOLUTION NO. 14200 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,644.68 TO PARKER EXCAVATING INC., FOR EMERGENCY SANITARY SEWER POINT REPAIR AT 2415 TH WEST 16 STREET AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, an emergency sanitary sewer repair was authorized by the former Pueblo City Manager in accordance with Section 1-10-5 of the Pueblo Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, the point repair work was awarded to Parker Excavating, Inc., under the 2019- 2020 multi-year point repair contract; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. th This contract is for repair of the sanitary sewer at 2415 West 16 Street with Parker Excavating Inc., Project No. 18-098 (WWAN03) and is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $5,644.68. SECTION 2. Funds for Project 18-098 (WWAN03) shall be from the Sewer User Fund. SECTION 3. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, A Municipal Corporation, and the Acting City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 4. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution and the contract to effectuate the transactions described therein. Furthermore, all actions previously taken by officers and staff of the City consistent with the contract including any payments authorized under the contract are hereby ratified. SECTION 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION : None BACKGROUND : On January 31, 2019, while reviewing the 100% TVI project videos, Wastewater found the sewer th main on West 16 Street needed repair. There is a hole in the main allowing wastewater to exit the main. Wastewater prepared an estimate for the work where K.R. Swerdfeger was low bidder but turned down the job due to being short staffed. Parker Excavating was the next low bidder and accepted the work. The cost breakdown for the project is as follows: Sanitary Sewer Replacement-related Total: $ 4,600.68 Surface Improvement Related Total: $ 1,044.00 Grand Total: $ 5,644.68 FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS : Funding for this project came from the sanitary sewer rehabilitation budget funded by the Sewer User Fund. Funding was available and had been budgeted, appropriated and allocated to Project No. 18-098 (WWAN03). BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION : Not applicable STAKEHOLDER PROCESS : None ALTERNATIVES : Alternative No. 1 – No Action Under this alternative, the City would make no improvements to the existing sanitary system and the defects would remain in the sewer main thus allowing wastewater to continue to exit the main. Alternative No. 2 – Place the Repair on a Rehabilitation List Under this alternative, the City would make no immediate repairs to the sanitary main. The sanitary main would be put on a rehabilitation list and prioritized by the level of importance for future rehabilitation projects, risking a potential safety and health hazard for the public. RECOMMENDATION : Approval of the Resolution.
