SUMMARY:
This ordinance establishes the Capital Project PL1902 for the SH47 and Troy Avenue
Landscape Project. The ordinance approves the transfer of funds in the amount of
$20,000 from the Fund Balance Account of the General Fund and $4,575 from
Streetscape Program Contributions, Capital Project CO1010 and accepts a donation of
$7,000 from Keep Pueblo Beautiful Association. The total fund in the amount of $31,575
will be budgeted and appropriated into Capital Project PL1902.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
None.
BACKGROUND:
The SH47 and Troy Avenue interchange landscape was constructed by the Colorado
Department of Transportation in the year 2000. The landscape has suffered loss and
neglect due to deferred maintenance and lack of designated maintenance funds. The
project was identified as a highly-visible blighted landscape that has potential once again
to be a gateway to the adjacent neighborhoods of CSU-Pueblo Campus, Belmont and the
Eastside. A partnership was established with the City, CSU-Pueblo and the Keep Pueblo
Beautiful Association to cleanup and renovate the landscape. The project will consist of
the upgrade of the existing irrigation system and the installation of the new landscaping.
The project will be added to the City’s annual Streetscape Maintenance Program.
