SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENTS BY THE MAYOR OF
THREE MEMBERS OF THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION –
CITY APPOINTMENTS
SUMMARY:
This Resolution appoints three individuals to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission-City
Appointment for three-year terms expiring December 31, 2021.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
City Council has made appointments to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission selecting
individuals to serve terms which expire at the end of a particular calendar year. Amended City
Charter Section 4-4 (i) now requires that such appointments be made by the Mayor, subject to
confirmation by City Council.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the term expirations of Ed Brown, Doris Kester and Larry Fancher on December 31,
2018, there are three vacant positions for three-year terms expiring on December 31, 2021. Mr.
Brown and Ms. Kester are term limited and Mr. Fancher has indicated that he does not wish to
be considered for reappointment.
Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain, announcements on the City Clerk’s
and Pueblo County Government webpages seeking volunteers to serve on the commission,
three applications were received from the following individuals:
Georgia Way New, Resident of the City of Pueblo
Kathryn Kidd, MSW, PhD New, Resident of the City of Pueblo
Gretchen Dypold New, Resident of the City of Pueblo
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
This a volunteer commission and members serve without compensation.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
None.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
None.
ALTERNATIVES:
Remove from agenda and re-advertise for additional applications.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the Resolution.

A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENTS BY THE
MAYOR OF THREE MEMBERS OF THE PUEBLO HUMAN
RELATIONS COMMISSION – CITY APPOINTMENTS
WHEREAS, Mayor Nicholas A. Gradisar has requested confirmation by the City Council of
his appointment of the following individuals to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission - City
Appointments for three-year terms expiring December 31, 2021.
Georgia Way
Kathryn Kidd
Gretchen Dypold
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1:
the following individuals to the Pueblo Human
The appointment by the Mayor of
Relations Commission - City Appointments for three-year terms expiring December 31,
2021
shall be and hereby is confirmed by the City Council:
Georgia Way
Kathryn Kidd
Gretchen Dypold
SECTION 2:
The officers and staff of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and all acts
consistent with this Resolution to implement the appointments described herein.
SECTION 3:
This Resolution shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City
Council.
