HomeMy WebLinkAbout14166 RESOLUTION NO. 14166 A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE MAYOR OF A MEMBER OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: The appointment by the Mayor of the following individual to the Historic Preservation Commission to complete a four-year term expiring January 1, 2023, shall be and hereby is confirmed and approved: Gregory S. Howell SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to effectuate the appointment described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. Action by the Mayor: Selection Committee Appointed on: Waived with consent of Council. Gradisar, Mayor FROM: Brenda Armijo, Acting City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE MAYOR OF A MEMBER OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION SUMMARY: This Resolution approves and confirms the appointment by the Mayor of Gregory S. Howell to the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) to complete a four-year term expiring January 1, 2023. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission are made on an annual basis selecting st individuals to serve terms expiring on January 1 of each year. BACKGROUND: Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain and an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this commission, the City Council, on December 26, 2018, by Resolution No. 14133, appointed the following three (3) persons to serve four year terms on the HPC: Chris Markuson (incumbent) Andy Sanchez (incumbent) Anthony P. Perko (new member) Mr. Perko submitted the only timely new application. A new application from Gregory S. Howell was received late and was not considered for the vacancy which Mr. Perko filled but rather placed on file for future appointment. Due to the recent resignation of HPC member Andy Sanchez there is one appointment available to complete Mr. Sanchez’ four-year term expiring January 1, 2023. Mr. Howell’s application was submitted for consideration of appointment by the Mayor and the Mayor has decided to appoint Mr. Howell. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Historic Preservation Commission supports this appointment. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: Remove from agenda and re-advertise for additional applications. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS: Proposed Resolution.
