HomeMy WebLinkAbout14164 RESOLUTION NO. 14164 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE COLORADO EMTS PROVIDER GRANT AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAME BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The grant application for the Colorado EMTS Provider Grant, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved, and the Mayor is authorized to execute same on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation. SECTION 2. The grant application is for an award of $132,469.00 for EMS and trauma equipment. If the grant is awarded, matching funds in the amount of fifty percent (50%) shall be available from the Public Safety Grant Match Fund. SECTION 3. The officers of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage. Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Brenda Armijo, Acting City Clerk FROM: Shawn Shelton, Fire Chief – Fire Department A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PUEBLO TO SUBMIT A SUBJECT: GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE COLORADO EMTS PROVIDER GRANT AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAME SUMMARY: Should City Council authorize the filing of an application for a Colorado EMTS Provider Grant to purchase four (4) LifePak 15 cardiac monitors and an advanced pediatric manikin? PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Approval of similar grant applications for cardiac monitors in 2012 and 2013. BACKGROUND: The purpose of the Colorado EMTS Provider grant is to provide funding, in the amount of $132,469.00 directly to the City of Pueblo Fire Department in order to purchase 4 LifePak 15 cardiac monitors and an advanced pediatric manikin. The project will allow the department to replace an outdated LifePak 12 cardiac monitor, place a LifePak 15 on apparatus which currently do not have a 12-lead monitor, as well as purchase an advanced pediatric manikin for use in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training. The City of Pueblo will be required to contribute a fifty percent match in the amount of $66,245.50 from the Public Safety Grant Match Fund. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The total request will be for $132,469.00. The State of Colorado share for the Colorado EMTS Provider grant is $66,234.50 and the fifty percent City match is $66,243.50. Staff time will be required for project management, as well as grant monitoring and reporting. The match will be transferred from the Public Safety Grant Match Fund.
