HomeMy WebLinkAbout14160 RESOLUTION NO. 14160 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2019 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE SOUTHERN COLORADO HARM REDUCTION ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 TO ASSIST WITH 2019 OPERATING EXPENSES BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $10,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2019 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the Southern Colorado Harm Reduction Association to assist with 2019 operating expenses. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: No previous action. BACKGROUND: City Council Member Mark Aliff is requesting $10,000 to assist the Southern Colorado Harm Reduction Association with their 2019 operating expenses. This association did not receive the LEAD grant they had applied for and are not able to apply again until spring. They have experienced rapid growth in participation from those in need of their services. Without additional financial assistance, they will be forced to shut their doors to those citizens using their services. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $10,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2019 General Fund Budget to the Southern Colorado Harm Reduction Association. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to support this resolution. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of City Council Member Mark Aliff.
