A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2019 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO MEMORIAL HALL IN THE AMOUNT
OF $5,000 TO SPONSOR THE PUEBLO SYMPHONY’S FREE
SYMPHONY FOR KIDS CONCERTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $5,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the
2019 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Memorial Hall to sponsor
the Pueblo Symphony’s Free Symphony for Kids concerts
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and
all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and
procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for sponsorship of the Pueblo Symphony’s Free
Symphony for Kids concerts.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
No previous Council action.
BACKGROUND:
Council Member Bob Schilling is requesting $5,000 to sponsor the Pueblo Symphony’s
2019 Free Symphony for Kids concerts. Two concerts will be held on May 14, 2019 to
accommodate both Pueblo City Schools students and District 70 students. This year’s
event will be held in Memorial Hall.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $5,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2019 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Memorial Hall.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
Not Applicable.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
Not Applicable.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this event.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Bob Schilling.

Here is the info on the concerts that we are requesting funding help from the City to present in Memorial Hall
to the citizens of Pueblo:

The Pueblo Symphony will present their FREE Symphony for Kids (SFK) Concerts to all area fourth grade
students in Pueblo County. . approximately 2,800 students! Because of the increase in the number of
students, we are requesting the use of Memorial Hall to accommodate that many students. We will perform
one (1) concert in the morning for District 70 students and one (1) concert in the afternoon for Pueblo City
School students. The concert is yet to be determined but "Heroes and Villains" has been very popular with the
students. We show excerpts of the movies on the large LED screen above the orchestra while we play the
music live.

The Pueblo Symphony will present the "Celebrate Freedom" concert for FREE to the citizens of Pueblo. This
year we are bringing back to Pueblo, POPERAZZI. This vocal trio is made up of three vocalists and are featured
at some of the top shows on the Las Vegas Strip. Blurring the boundaries between classical and popular
music, this vocal trio is delighting thousands with their diverse vocal prowess and captivating stage
presence. From Opera to Rock, Pavarotti to Prima, Sinatra to Jersey Boys,these young and versatile
entertainers perform a delicate musical mix of opera with a twist. Tenors George DeMott and Cody Shawn
Gay and soprano,Janien Valentine, make up POPERAllI.
