HomeMy WebLinkAbout14139 RESOLUTION NO. 14139 A RESOLUTION FIXING ALTERNATE DAYS FOR REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED FOR THE SECOND MONDAY IN OCTOBER AND THE FOURTH MONDAY IN MAY 2019 WHEREAS, the Regular City Council Meeting scheduled for the Fourth Monday in May falls on May 27, 2019, which is observed as Memorial Day and a City Holiday; and WHEREAS, the Regular City Council Meeting scheduled for the Second Monday in October falls on October 14, 2019, which is observed as Columbus Day and a City Holiday;NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1: Tuesday, May 28, 2019 is hereby fixed as the day for the Regular Meeting of the Pueblo City Council, originally scheduled for Monday, May 27, 2019. SECTION 2: Tuesday, October 15, 2019 is hereby fixed as the day for the Regular Meeting of the Pueblo City Council, originally scheduled for Monday, October 14, 2019. SECTION 3: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. Nicoll and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Office of the City Clerk FROM: Brenda Armijo, Acting City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION FIXING ALTERNATE DAYS FOR REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED FOR THE SECOND MONDAY IN OCTOBER AND THE FOURTH MONDAY IN MAY 2019 SUMMARY: This Resolution changes the dates of the two 2019 Regular City Council meetings currently scheduled for the second Monday in October and the fourth Monday in May in order to accommodate the 2019 City Holiday Schedule. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: A Resolution changing the dates for any Regular City Council Meeting that falls on a City Holiday during the year is prepared for the first meeting in January of each year. BACKGROUND: Per Section 3-15 of the City Charter, “If a regular meeting shall fall on or the evening before a City holiday, the City Council may by Resolution fix another day for such regular meeting.” Monday, May 27, 2019 is observed as Memorial Day and October 14, 2019 is observed as Columbus Day, both observed as City Holidays. The Regular Meeting scheduled for Monday, May 27, 2019 will be moved to Tuesday, May 28, 2019; the Regular Meeting scheduled for Monday, October 14, 2019 will be moved to Tuesday, October 15, 2019. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable for this Resolution STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable for this Resolution. ALTERNATIVES: If the two aforementioned meetings are not rescheduled by Resolution, the Regular Meetings shall be held on the date of the recognized City holiday. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
