BACKGROUND:
The City operates 10 Fire stations that serve the needs of the citizens and visitors of our
community. Four (4) of these stations do not have gender specific restrooms or shower facilities.
It is important that public buildings have facilities that are accommodating to all. This ordinance
provides funding to redesign and rebuild the restrooms in fire stations 5, 6, 7, and 8. Each of these
stations have available room, within their current footprint to accommodate these upgrades. Each
station will undergo the demolition of the current bathroom, which will then be divided into two
equal sized rooms with a shower, stool and vanity. Upon completion all 10 of the City’s fire
stations will have at least two restroom and shower facilities.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $225,000 for this project will come from the fund balance of the general
fund.
