HomeMy WebLinkAbout09344ORDINANCE NO. 9344 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-5-16 OF CHAPTER 5, OF TITLE VI OF THE PUEBLO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE FY 2018 CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN BY ESTABLISHING THE PAY SCALE FOR THE LEGAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: (brackets indicate matter being deleted, underscore indicates matter being added) SECTION 1. The following line items with Section 6-5-16 of Chapter 5, of Title VI of the Pueblo Municipal Code as amended, being the Classification and Pay Plan (2018), are amended to read as follows: 6-5-16. Schedule, classification, work week and monthly salary. The following shall constitute: A. The classification and pay range for all bargaining unit employees of the City effective January 1, 2018; B. The classification and pay range for all non-bargaining unit employees of the City effective January 1, 2018; C. The pay range for all unclassified employees of the City effective January 1, 2018. Nicoll and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Brenda Armijo, Acting City Clerk FROM: Marisa Pacheco – Human Resources Director Daniel Kogovsek – City Attorney SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-5-16 OF CHAPTER 5, OF TITLE VI OF THE PUEBLO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE FY 2018 CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN BY ESTABLISHING THE PAY SCALE FOR THE LEGAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is an amended Pay Plan Ordinance that reflects the addition of the pay rate and salary schedule for the Legal Support Assistant. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: In December 2017, City Council approved the annual Salary Ordinance for the 2018 fiscal year. BACKGROUND: The Law Department requests to add the salary schedule for the newly created classification of Legal Support Assistant to the 2018 classification and pay plan. The reclassification of an existing position within the City’s Law Department due to a significant change in the duties being performed by an administrative support position is the reason for this request. Section 8-8 of the City Charter requires the Human Resources Director to provide a Uniform Schedule of Pay for the Classified Service, which shall be approved by the City Manager and submitted to City Council. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funding for the reclassified position of Legal Support Assistant will come from the General Fund. The difference in salary for the remainder of 2018 is approximately $1,092. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: City Administration and members of the executive board of the Pueblo Association of Government Employees (PAGE) met on August 13, 2018 to discuss the reclassification and related salary change. ALTERNATIVES: The no action alternative would be to retain the current classification assignment, necessitating reassignment of higher level duties to other staff members within the Department. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Ordinance.
