A RESOLUTION APPOINTING THE ACTING CITY CLERK AS
THE DESIGNATED ELECTION OFFICIAL FOR THE SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 2018
AND FOR THE SPECIAL RUN-OFF MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR
MAYOR, IF NECESSARY, TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 22, 2019
AND DIRECTING THE ACTING CITY CLERK TO CERTIFY THE
ORDER AND CONTENT OF THE BALLOTS FOR SAID
ELECTIONS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The Acting City Clerk shall be and hereby is appointed as the Designated Election Official
for the November 6, 2018 Special Municipal Election and the Special Run-Off Municipal Election
for Mayor, if necessary, to be held on January 22, 2019.
SECTION 2.
The order and content of the ballot for the City's Special Municipal Election to be held on
November 6, 2018 shall be as follows:

SECTION 3.
The order and content of the ballot for the City's Special Run-Off Municipal Election for
Mayor, if necessary, to be held on January 22, 2019, shall be determined according to Section 5-
3-3 of the Pueblo Municipal Code.
SECTION 4.
The Acting City Clerk shall be and hereby is directed to certify the order and content of
the ballot for the November 6, 2018 Special Municipal Election and the Special Run-Off Municipal
Election for Mayor, if necessary, to be held on January 22, 2019, in accordance with applicable
law.
SECTION 5.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and all acts
consistent with this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 6.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon final passage and approval.

THE ORDER AND CONTENT OF THE BALLOTS FOR SAID ELECTIONS
SUMMARY:
This Resolution appoints the Acting City Clerk as the Designated Election Official for the
November 6, 2018 Special Municipal Election and the Special Run-Off Municipal Election for
Mayor, if necessary, to be held on January 22, 2019. This Resolution also directs the Acting City
Clerk to certify the order and content of the ballots for said elections.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
On July 23, 2018, by Ordinance No. 9317, City Council directed that the November 6, 2018
Special Municipal Election be conducted as part of a Coordinated Election with Pueblo County.
Additionally, Council directed that a Special Run-Off Municipal Election for Mayor, if necessary,
be held on January 22, 2019.
BACKGROUND:
C.R.S. 1-5-203 (3)(a) requires that the Designated Election Official of each political subdivision
participating in a Coordinated Election to certify the order of the ballot and ballot content. Such
certification is to be delivered to the County Clerk and Recorder no later than sixty (60) days
before the Coordinated Election.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
The City shall pay to the County Clerk the City's share of the actual cost of materials and services
directly attributable to the City’s participation in the Coordinated Election. Funding for the costs
associated with conducting this Special Municipal Election is allocated in the City Clerk’s 2018
Departmental Budget. Funding for the January 22, 2019 Special Mayoral Runoff Election, if
necessary, shall come from the City’s 2019 budget.

ALTERNATIVES
If this Resolution is not adopted, the City will be unable to proceed with the November 6, 2018
Special Municipal Election.
