A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2018 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO VICTORY OUTREACH PUEBLO IN THE
AMOUNT OF $500 TO SPONSOR THE 3RD ANNUAL LEGACY
OF HOPE CELEBRATION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the
2018 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Victory Outreach Pueblo to sponsor
the 3rd Annual Legacy of Hope Celebration.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and
all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and
procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a flyer for the 3rd Annual Legacy of Hope Celebration taking
place in Bessemer Park on September 15, 2018.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
City Council sponsored $500 for this event in 2017.
BACKGROUND:
Council Member Ray Aguilera is requesting funding to sponsor this event. The mission of
this group is to unite the community of Pueblo around a common purpose, to bring
awareness, education, resources & hope to those who have been impacted by drugs and
their effects on our community. They will be celebrating hope and the success of
individuals who have overcome drug addiction and are positively contributing to our
community.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2018 General Fund Budget to Victory Outreach Pueblo.

Not Applicable.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
Not Applicable.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to fund this event for 2018.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Ray Aguilera.

3RD ANNUAL

Dear Business Partner,
Thank you in advance for your valuable time, We are excited to announce the 3rd Annual Legacy of
HOPE Celebration, a combined effort by Victory Outreach Pueblo Legacy Center,Victory Homes of
Pueblo and other concerned citizens and agencies.A powerful resolution is at work to bring HOPE to a
city that is facing a deadly epidemic of opioids and other drug use. This event will take place at
Bessemer Park on Saturday,September 15"', 2018 from 11:00am-3:00pm.
Last year, our event generated an enormous amount of support and interest due to the dedication of
our community to eliminate harmful drugs from our city. We had hundreds of people in attendance last
year and our advertisements and promotional materials reached thousands of people throughout our
community. We were featured in the Pueblo Chieftain prior to last year's event and the same will happen
again this year. We have a diverse lineup of individuals representing education, recreation, youth
services, recovery, law enforcement, policy makers, and community sectors.
During the Legacy of HOPE Celebration, there will be:
• Free Entry for all • Free Haircuts
• Bounce houses &other activities • Martial Arts
• Live Musical Entertainment • Food Vendor
• Drawings for"Give-Away Items" • Pueblo Favorite Vendors
• Educational resources&presentations • Life stories from former drug users&
from various agencies &programs their families
Now is your opportunity to make a big difference in the fight against the drug epidemic happening here
in our own backyard. The attached sponsorship packet lists various opportunities to financially support this
cause that we would like you to thoughtfully consider. Your valuable partnership, at any level, will help
give HOPE to our city through awareness, education and will provide crucial resources and alternatives to
the people of our community. Your sponsorship will also serve as an invaluable marketing tool for your
organization that will continue to benefit you long after the event is over.
