Dear Mr.Barela,
This letter is to request your consideration of approval for the revocable right-of-way permit for the
El Pueblo Farmers Market. The market will begin July 28 and run through October 13 and will be
hosted every Saturday from 8:30 a.m.to 1 pm.The market supports providing healthy,affordable
food to the community through Colorado grown produce and providing access to EBT and Double
Up Food Bucks.
In 2015,the Pueblo Farmers Market moved to El Pueblo History Museum,301 N.Union Ave.,to help
revive the market and provide more visibility and access to the community. The following year, the
market changed management and became El Pueblo Farmers Market. In 2016,due to the need for
parking and pedestrian safety crossing the street, El Pueblo History Museum purchased flashing
pedestrian lights across Union to provide a safer crosswalk to visitors.
El Pueblo History Museum would also request your consideration of waiving the Special Event
permit application fee and deposit. As a non-profit,this waiver of the fees would help us continue to
provide funding toward educational programming and development of exhibits.
El Pueblo Farmers Market is vital for this community due to the history of this market and the
importance to provide healthy food to the community. This market will also support small local
farms and businesses which will improve the local economy. We appreciate your consideration and
support of this summer event.
Sincerely,
Zach Werkowitch
