HomeMy WebLinkAbout14001 RESOLUTION NO. 14001 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A BUILDING DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $170,693.00 TO IRON MOUNTAIN DEMOLITION, AND SETTING FORTH $20,000.00 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK FOR PROJECT NO. 18-070 DEMOLITION OF POLICE ANNEX BUILDING AT 150 CENTRAL MAIN STREET AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for Project No. 18-070 – Demolition of Unsafe Structures at 150 Central Main Street have been received and examined; and; WHEREAS, the proposal of Iron Mountain Demolition, of Colorado Springs, Colorado was the lowest bid determined to be responsible; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Contracts for Project No.18-070 – Demolition of Police Annex Building at 150 Central Main Street is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $170,693.00. SECTION 2. In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work. Contingencies and Additional Work . . . . $20,000.00. SECTION 3. This demolition contract will be paid from Project Code CI1816 - Demolition of Police Annex Building. SECTION 4. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 5. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Nicoll and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Brenda Armijo, Acting City Clerk FROM: Jeff Bailey, Acting Director of Public Works SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AWARDING A BUILDING DEMOLITION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $170,693.00 TO IRON MOUNTAIN DEMOLITION, AND SETTING FORTH $20,000.00 FOR CONTINGENCIES AND ADDITIONAL WORK FOR PROJECT NO. 18-070 DEMOLITION OF POLICE ANNEX BUILDING AT 150 CENTRAL MAIN STREET AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME SUMMARY: This Resolution awards a construction contract to Iron Mountain Demolition for the demolition of the structure located at 150 Central Main Street, Pueblo, CO. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: The City of Pueblo owns the structure at 150 Central Main Street which was the old Police Annex Building and is being removed to provide for the RTA Project. This will consist of the demolition of a structure and other incidental items related to the razing of the structure and clean-up of the property as specified in the plans and the specifications. The work was competitively bid through the City’s Purchasing Department, and a copy of the bid summary is attached. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This demolition contract will be paid from project code CI1704 - Demolition of Police Annex Building. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: Denial of this Resolution will result in cancellation of the project. RECOMMENDATION : Approval of the Resolution. Attachments: Bid Summary
