HomeMy WebLinkAbout09271ORDINANCE NO. 9271 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-5-16 OF CHAPTER 5, OF TITLE VI OF THE PUEBLO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE FY 2018 CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN BY ESTABLISHING THE PAY SCALE FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: (brackets indicate matter being deleted, underscore indicates matter being added) SECTION 1. The following line items with Section 6-5-16 of Chapter 5, of Title VI of the Pueblo Municipal Code as amended, being the Classification and Pay Plan (2018), are amended to read as follows: 6-5-16. Schedule, classification, work week and monthly salary. The following shall constitute: A. The classification and pay range for all bargaining unit employees of the City effective January 1, 2018; B. The classification and pay range for all non-bargaining unit employees of the City effective January 1, 2018; C. The pay range for all unclassified employees of the City effective January 1, 2018. Nicoll and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Brenda Armijo, Acting City Clerk FROM: Marisa Pacheco – Human Resources Director Bryan Gallagher – Acting Housing and Citizen Services Director SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-5-16 OF CHAPTER 5, OF TITLE VI OF THE PUEBLO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE FY 2018 CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN BY ESTABLISHING THE PAY SCALE FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is an amended Pay Plan Ordinance that reflects the addition of the pay rate and salary schedule for the Community Development Specialist. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: In December 2017, City Council approved the annual Salary Ordinance for the 2018 fiscal year. BACKGROUND: The Housing and Citizen Services Department requests to add the salary schedule for the newly created position of Community Development Specialist to the 2018 classification and pay plan. Section 8-8 of the City Charter requires the Human Resources Director to provide a Uniform Schedule of Pay for the Classified Service, which shall be approved by the City Manager and submitted to City Council. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The action noted above is cost neutral. The new classification will be at the same pay scale as the former Loan Coordinator II. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: City Administration and members of the executive board of the Pueblo Association of Government Employees (PAGE) met on April 11, 2018, to discuss the proposal which was met with support from the union. ALTERNATIVES: The no action alternative would be to retain the current classification title and pay scale. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Ordinance.
