HomeMy WebLinkAbout13969 RESOLUTION NO. 13969 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION – JOINT CITY-COUNTY APPOINTMENTS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission - Joint City-County Appointments to serve three-year terms expiring December 31, 2020. Floyd Jaramillo M. Patricia O’Brien Charlotte Perez Jean Flynn Ray SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Nicoll and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Brenda Armijo, Acting City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION – JOINT CITY-COUNTY APPOINTMENTS SUMMARY: This Resolution ratifies the joint City-County selections to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission to serve three-year terms expiring December 31, 2020. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission are made on an annual basis st selecting individuals to serve terms expiring on December 31 of each year. BACKGROUND: Due to the term expirations of members Gary Weaver, Floyd Jaramillo, David Russell and resignation of Elizabeth Ann Newman there are four appointments available on the Pueblo Human Relations Commission as Joint City-County appointments to serve three-year terms expiring December 21, 2020. Incumbents Gary Weaver and David Russell do not wish to be considered for reappointment. Incumbent Floyd Jaramillo does wish to be considered for reappointment. Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain, announcements on the City Clerk’s and Pueblo County Government webpages seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were received from the following individuals: Jean Flynn Ray New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  M. Patricia O’Brien New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Charlotte Perez New, Resident of the City of Pueblo  Applications were reviewed following the PACOG meeting held on April 26, 2018 and all applicants were acceptable for appointment. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: City Council in agreement with the County Commissioners could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, and request that the recruitment process be extended. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS:
