Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk FROM: Steven Meier, Director of Planning and Community Development TH SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE STREET NAME OF EAST 47 STREET TO VISION HILLS PARKWAY SUMMARY: th The applicant is requesting to change the street name from East 47 Street to Vision Hills Parkway PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: The applicant is requesting to change the street name of 47th Street to Vision Hills Parkway. This request was filed by The Vistas at Walking Stick and strongly supported by the City’s Transportation and GIS Departments. The current 47th Street name has a known street name issue for the City of Pueblo and the neighbors that utilize the street, making it difficult for visitors and emergency responders to locate the incident due to the confusion with Colorado State Highway 47. There are no properties addressed off of 47th Street. The City will be replacing all street signs with the new name. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: There are no financial implications for the City. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: The Planning and Zoning Commission, at their July 12, 2017 Regular Meeting, voted 5-0 with Commissioner Lucas absent, to recommend approval. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: A Public Notice poster was placed on the subject property 15 days prior to the Public Hearing. A public notice was published in the Pueblo Chieftain on June 27, 2017. ALTERNATIVES: If City Council does not approve this Ordinance, the current street names would remain. Upon request of City Council, the Ordinance could be returned to the Planning and Zoning Commission for consideration of proposed modifications. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Ordinance.
