HomeMy WebLinkAbout13742 RESOLUTION NO. 13742 A RESOLUTION CONVEYING BY A QUITCLAIM DEED LOTS 1 & 2 AND THE WEST HALF OF LOT 3, BLOCK 34, IRVING PLACE 2ND FILING AND LOTS 8 & 9, BLOCK 34, IRVING PLACE 2ND FILING TO THE PUEBLO URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME WHEREAS, Lots 1 & 2 and the West one-half of Lot 3, Block 34 in the Irving Place 2nd Filing, and Lots 8 & 9, Block 34 in the Irving Place 2nd Filing, according to the recorded plat thereof, are vacant lots transferred to the City by treasurer’s deed in 1945 and are not used for any governmental purpose; and WHEREAS, said property is contained within the Lower West Side urban renewal area, and the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority of Pueblo, Colorado, is facilitating a subdivision of property in said area to promote commercial and economic growth; and WHEREAS, the transfer of said property to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority furthers a valid public purpose; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Quitclaim Deed, a copy of which is attached hereto, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved and accepted. SECTION 2. The President of City Council is hereby authorized to execute the attached Quitclaim Deed on behalf of the City. SECTION 3. The City Clerk is directed to cause said Quitclaim Deed to be recorded in the office of the Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder forthwith. SECTION 4. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the transactions described herein. SECTION 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk FROM: Earl Wilkinson, P.E., Director of Public Works SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CONVEYING BY A QUITCLAIM DEED LOTS 1 & 2 AND ND THE WEST HALF OF LOT 3, BLOCK 34, IRVING PLACE 2 FILING AND ND LOTS 8 & 9, BLOCK 34, IRVING PLACE 2 FILING TO THE PUEBLO URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is a resolution approving a quitclaim deed to transfer City owned property to Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority to facilitate development. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: There has been no previous City Council action with regards to this subject. BACKGROUND: The City owns two parcels of land shown below. The Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority is facilitating a Resubdivision of property within the Lower West Side urban renewal area to include the parcel of land immediately adjacent to City owned parcels. The Resolution will transfer the City owned lots to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority and said lots will th be combined with the immediately adjacent corner parcel (NE corner 16 & Cheyenne) to create a larger area for redevelopment. The City owned lots are not needed for any public infrastructure or any City function, and will eliminate future weed and trash maintenance. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable. ALTERNATIVES: If City Council does not approve this Resolution the parcels will remain with the City. RECOMMENDATION : Approval of Resolution.
