HomeMy WebLinkAbout13731 RESOLUTION NO. 13731 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO LIQUOR AND BEER LICENSING BOARD BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1: Ashley Sowinski is hereby appointed to the Pueblo Liquor and Beer Licensing Board for a four-year term expiring August 1, 2021. SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PUEBLO LIQUOR AND BEER LICENSING BOARD SUMMARY: This Resolution appoints one member to the Pueblo Liquor and Beer Licensing Board for a four- year term expiring August 1, 2021. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Pueblo Liquor and Beer Licensing Board are made on an annual basis st selecting individuals to serve four-year terms expiring on August 1 of each year. BACKGROUND: Due to the term expiration of member Michael Ferris there is one position available to serve a four-year term on the Liquor and Beer Licensing Board. Based on the term limits set forth, Mr. Ferris is not eligible for reappointment. Following an advertisement published in the Pueblo Chieftain, an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage and the City of Pueblo social media outlets, the following applications were received: APPLICANT RESIDENCY APPOINTED BY COUNCIL Ashley Sowinski Resident of the City of Pueblo New Gerry H. Owen Resident of the City of Pueblo New/Application withdrawn Michael A. Varadi Resident of the City of Pueblo New/Application withdrawn President Stephen G. Nawrocki and Councilman Robert Schilling conducted the interviews for this board on July 12, 2017. The recommendation for appointment is Ashley Sowinski to serve the four-year term expiring August 1, 2021. Gerry Owen and Michal Varadi have withdrawn their application due to a conflict of another board. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Liquor and Beer Licensing Board Members receive as compensation $25.00 for each regular or special meeting actually attended. The Chairman of the Board receives as additional compensation the sum of $50.00 per month for each month of service as Chairman. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: Remove from agenda and re-advertise for additional applications. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. Attachments:
