HomeMy WebLinkAbout13718RESOLUTION NO. 13718 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE GIFT OF AN ART ARCH FROM TOM AND JEAN LATKA, TO BE LOCATED WITHIN GROME PARK AND APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF SAME BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1: The City of Pueblo hereby accepts the Art Arch donated by Tom and Jean Latka and approves the installation of same at Grome Park. SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution and the attached Memorandum of Understanding to effectuate the transactions described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk FROM: Steven Meier, Director of Parks and Recreation SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE GIFT OF AN ART ARCH FROM TOM AND JEAN LATKA, TO BE LOCATED WITHIN GROME PARK AND APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF SAME SUMMARY: This Resolution will approve the acceptance of a gift of an art arch from Tom and Jean Latka and approve the installation of this art piece within Grome Park. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None BACKGROUND: Jean Latka, Latka Studios, contacted Parks and Recreation Director Steven Meier in May of this year about the possibility of donating an art sculpture to be installed at Grome Park. The Latkas committed to paying for the foundation and the installation. The artwork would be placed at the east end of the park near Lamar Street and King Street. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The entire project cost will be donated by Tom and Jean Latka. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: Council could remove the Resolution from the agenda and the gift of the artwork will not be accepted.
