DIIORIO WATER RECLAMATION FACILITY AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME SUMMARY: This Resolution awards a construction contract to Flow Right Plumbing, Heating, & Irrigation Inc. for the replacement of the Reznor duct furnaces for the laboratory fume hood at the James R. DiIorio Water Reclamation Facility. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION : None BACKGROUND : In the winter of 2016, one of the Reznor duct furnaces in the laboratory at the Wastewater Treatment Plant became inoperable. A few weeks later, the other one also stopped working. The modulating gas valve was the problem on both. Upon calling the factory, we found that there was no replacement for these valves and were advised to replace the units. It is important to have these units operational during the winter, otherwise the air pulled into the fume hoods creates freezing temperatures in the laboratory. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS : Funding for this project comes from the treatment plant. Funding is available and has been budgeted, appropriated and allocated to Project No. WWAN04. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION : Not applicable STAKEHOLDER PROCESS : None ALTERNATIVES : Alternative No. 1 – No Action Under this alternative, the City would make no improvements to the duct furnaces in the laboratory. With the duct furnaces not working properly the laboratory would reach freezing temperatures in the winter. RECOMMENDATION : Approval of the Resolution. Attachments : Bid summary
