CI1704, ABATE AND DEMOLISH BLIGHTED PROPERTIES, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000 FOR SUCH PROJECT WHEREAS, structures have been empty and condemned by Pueblo Regional Building, and; WHEREAS, these structures are public safety hazards, and; WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the General Fund to finance the environmental testing, asbestos abatement, demolition, utility disconnect, and general cleanup; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Capital Project No. CI1704, Abate and Demolish Blighted Properties, is hereby established. SECTION 2. Funds in the amount of $250,000 are hereby budgeted and appropriated from the General Fund fund balance to project CI1704 Abate and Demolish Blighted Properties. SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Ordinance and to effectuate the policies and procedures described therein. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final passage and approval. CI1704, ABATE AND DEMOLISH BLIGHTED PROPERTIES, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000 FOR SUCH PROJECT SUMMARY: Several blighted properties have been condemned by the Pueblo Regional Building Department, and have been identified as public safety hazards. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council appropriates funds annually for the demolition of blighted properties. BACKGROUND: City Council has made it a priority to abate and demolish dangerous blighted properties within the City of Pueblo. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This $250,000 will allow for the abatement and demolition of several blighted properties. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: N/A ALTERNATIVES: Leave the condemned, hazardous buildings in their present condition. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Ordinance.
