HomeMy WebLinkAbout13616RESOLUTION NO. 13616 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE MEDICAL AND RETAIL MARIJUANA LICENSING AUTHORITY BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1: The following individual is hereby appointed to the Medical and Retail Marijuana Licensing Authority to complete a four-year term expiring July 1, 2018. Robert James SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE MEDICAL AND RETAIL MARIJUANA LICENSING AUTHORITY SUMMARY: This Resolution appoints one member to the Pueblo Medical and Retail Marijuana Licensing Authority to complete a term vacated due to the resignation of board member Deric Stowell. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Following the initial staggered terms, appointments to the Medical and Retail Marijuana Licensing Authority are made on an annual basis to serve four-year terms. BACKGROUND: Due to the resignation of board member Deric Stowell, there is one appointment on the Medical and Retail Medical Marijuana Licensing Authority to complete a four-year term expiring July 1, 2018. Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain on January 1, 2017, and an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were received from the following individuals: APPLICANT RESIDENCY FIRST APPOINTED Robert James, Original Board Resident of the City of Pueblo 2014 (One Year Term) Brandon Lee, New Resident of the City of Pueblo Anthony Soto, Jr., New Resident of the City of Pueblo All applicants were interviewed on February 1, 2017, by President Stephen G. Nawrocki and Councilman Robert Schilling. The recommendation for appointment is Robert James. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This is a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: Remove from the agenda and re-advertise for additional applications. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
