SUMMARY:
This ordinance approves an addendum to the collective bargaining agreement between the City
and the International Association of Firefighters Local No. 3.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
None.
BACKGROUND:
The Addendum No. 1 which states, for the purpose of station transfers under Article 33 of the
Labor Agreement, all employees currently appointed or subsequently appointed to the position of
Fire Prevention Inspector shall retain and continue to accrue seniority in the class previously held
prior to such appointment during any period of employment as a Fire Prevention Inspector.
Currently, employees that voluntarily fill a position in the Fire Prevention Bureau and then choose
to return to their previous position as a Group B employee cease to accrue station bid seniority
when they change from a Group A employee to a Group B employee. This addendum allows for
that accrual of time to continue while they are assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau.
