FIRE ICE CUP CHARITY HOCKEY GAME BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2016 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Neighborhood Watch to sponsor st the 1 Annual Police vs. Fire Ice Cup Charity Hockey Game SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. FIRE ICE CUP CHARITY HOCKEY GAME SUMMARY: st Attached for consideration is event information on the 1 Annual Police vs. Fire Ice Cup Charity Hockey Game. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: No previous Council action. BACKGROUND: st City Council Member Chris Nicoll is requesting $500 to sponsor the 1 Annual Police vs. Fire Ice Cup Charity Hockey Game. Funds from this charity event will raise funds and collect new unwrapped toys for policemen and firefighters to distribute throughout the community leading up to Christmas. Also, a portion of the toys and funds will be used during the 2016 Heroes and Helpers program which provides for underprivileged children in Pueblo County nominated by school counselors and teachers to Shop with a Cop (Pueblo Police Officers, Pueblo County Sheriff Deputies, and local Colorado State Patrolmen) before Christmas. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2016 General Fund Budget to Neighborhood Watch. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to pay for the sponsorship. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of City Council Member Chris Nicoll. N N 0000 N N N N N N CT N N N N 0000 ` N M M ^-, dr d cn in 4O i i 00 CT POLICE vs. FIRE 1st Annual Charity Hockey Game "ICE 16" eOE �� e xt PUEBLO When: Saturday November 19, 2016 4p-6p; $1 skate session (including rental) to follow the game at 6:30p *Team announcements and Police/Fire Honor Guard presentation of colors will begin at 3:40p Location: Pueblo Ice Arena located at 100 N Grand Ave, Pueblo, CO 81003 COST: $5 or bring a brand new unwrapped toy to watch the Law Enforcement and Fireman take each other on, win giveaways, and partake in skate session after. Kids 10 and under are free! There will be several giveaways to include Parks and Recreation passes, birthday parties, and autographed pucks by the heroes playing. There will also be contests during the intermission breaks to include a half rink shot contest. $1 skate (Rental included) after game starting at 6:30p for those who come to the game! Event Info: This game will be played to help raise funds to purchase and gather new unwrapped toys. These toys will later be distributed throughout the Pueblo community leading up to Christmas by Pueblo Police Officers and Pueblo Fire Fighters. A portion of the toys and money gathered will also be set aside for the children selected in the annual Heroes and Helpers program. This program offers underprivileged, children throughout Pueblo County who are nominated by school counselors and teachers to shop with a cop (Pueblo Police Officers, Pueblo County Sheriff Deputies, and local Colorado State Patrolmen) before Christmas. MISC: There will be a 50/50 raffle as well put on by VAPP (Volunteers Assisting Pueblo Police) who help assist with numerous Pueblo police projects throughout the year.
