HomeMy WebLinkAbout13512 RESOLUTION NO. 13512 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION – JOINT CITY-COUNTY APPOINTMENT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: Elizabeth Ann Newman is hereby appointed to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission - Joint City/County Appointment to complete a three-year term expiring December 31, 2017. SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION – JOINT CITY-COUNTY APPOINTMENT SUMMARY: This Resolution ratifies a joint City-County selection to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission. Applications were reviewed after the PACOG meeting held on August 25, 2016 and Elizabeth Ann Newman was selected to complete the three-year term expiring December 31, 2017. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission are made on an annual basis st selecting individuals to serve terms expiring on December 31 of each year. BACKGROUND: Due to the resignation of member Ann Batey, a vacancy exists for a term expiring December 31, 2017 as a Pueblo Human Relations Commission Joint City-County appointment. Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain, announcements on the City Clerk’s and Pueblo County Government webpages seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, an application were received from the following individual: Elizabeth Ann Newman New, Resident of the County of Pueblo  FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: NONE STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: NONE ALTERNATIVES: City Council in agreement with the County Commissioners could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, and request that the recruitment process be extended. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS:
