HomeMy WebLinkAbout13501RESOLUTION NO. 13501 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE FIRE BOARD OF APPEALS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Fire Board of Appeals for a three-year term expiring April 1, 2018. Michael Carlisle Richard Dilorio SECTION 2: The following individual is hereby appointed to the Fire Board of Appeals for a three-year term expiring April 1, 2019. Gary Micheli SECTION 3: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE FIRE BOARD OF APPEALS SUMMARY: , This resolution will reappoint two members with terms expiring April 12018 and appoint one new member with a term expiring April 1, 2019 and to the Fire Board of Appeals. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Fire Board of Appeals are made on an annual basis selecting st individuals to serve staggered three-year terms on April 1 of each year. BACKGROUND: The City of Pueblo published in the Pueblo Chieftain during March 2014 an advertisement and an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee for one appointment to complete a 3-year term expiring on April 1, 2016. No applications were received and the recruitment process was held open until filled. The Fire Board of Appeals continued to function under the provisions of the Pueblo City Charter Section 2-5, “Members of such boards and commissions shall serve for a period of four years, or until their successors are appointed.” At this time, a new application from Gary Micheli was received to fill the vacancy and incumbents Michael Carlile and Richard DiIorio indicated they wished to be considered for reappointment. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Any person aggrieved by a ruling, decision, interpretation, or order of the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief in charge of Fire Prevention, or the Fire Department, shall have the right to appeal to this Board. Board members then have the authority to affirm, modify, or reverse said appealed ruling, interpretation, order, or decision ALTERNATIVES: Council could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be extended, and order the public notice for applications be republished to receive additional applications for consideration. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. Attachments:
