A RESOLUTION APPOINTING THE PRESIDING JUDGE
OF THE MUNICIPAL COURT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Carla Sikes is hereby appointed as the Presiding Municipal Judge of the Municipal
Court for the City of Pueblo for a term of two years commencing May 1, 2016 and expiring
on April 30, 2018. She shall act as Municipal Court Administrator and shall supervise all
Municipal Court personnel. She shall receive monthly compensation in the amount of
$ 9166.66 per month.
SECTION 2.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
The proposed Resolution appoints Carla Sikes as Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Not applicable.
BACKGROUND:
Recruitment for a Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court began on February 17, 2016. Thirteen
qualified applications were received, and City Council conducted formal interviews with five
finalists. On April 11, 2016, the City Council designated their preference for appointment subject
to a salary and commencement date acceptable to the City Council. The proposed Resolution
would appoint Carla Sikes as the Presiding Municipal Judge of the Municipal Court for the City of
Pueblo for a term of two years effective May 1, 2016 and expiring on April 30, 2018.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court shall receive a salary and related benefits as shall be
fixed by the City Council.

Not applicable.
ALTERNATIVES:
If the City Council does not approve appointment Carla Sikes as the Presiding Judge of the
Municipal Court, it will need to determine how it wishes to proceed to make a permanent
appointment for this position.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of City Council.
