HomeMy WebLinkAbout13416RESOLUTION NO. 13416 A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE PREFERENCE OF CITY COUNCIL WITH RESPECT TO THE APPOINTMENT OF THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE MUNICIPAL COURT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. City Council designates Carla Sikes as its preference for appointment as Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court subject to completion of a formal background check and City Council passage and approval of a Resolution appointing the designee and setting a salary and commencement date acceptable to City Council. SECTION 2. The President of City Council is authorized to meet with the above-designated applicant in furtherance of this Resolution. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage. Nawrocki SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE PREFERENCE OF CITY COUNCIL WITH RESPECT TO THE APPOINTMENT OF THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE MUNICIPAL COURT SUMMARY: The proposed Resolution designates Carla Sikes as its preference for appointment as Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Not applicable. BACKGROUND: Recruitment for a Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court began on February 17, 2016. Thirteen qualified applications were received, and City Council conducted formal interviews with five finalists. The Resolution would name the City Council’s preference with respect to this appointment. The designee would undergo a formal background check, and the Council President would meet with the designee to resolve any issues with respect to a salary and commencement date; after which, the City Council will be presented for its consideration a Resolution appointing the designee and setting a salary and commencement date. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: There are no financial implications unless and until City Council passes and approves of a Resolution appointing the designee and setting a salary and commencement date acceptable to the City Council. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable. ALTERNATIVES: If the City Council does not approve appointment of one of the finalists, it will need to determine how it wishes to proceed to make a permanent appointment for this position. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of City Council. Attachments: None
