A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2016
GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE JUNETEENTH
ORGANIZATION OF PUEBLO, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,000 TO SPONSOR THE JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION
“2016”
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the
2016 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the Juneteenth Organization of
Pueblo, Inc. for the sponsorship of the Juneteenth Celebration “2016” event to be held on
June 16, 2016.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and
all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and
procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached is a request for a sponsorship for the Juneteenth Celebration to be held on June
16, 2016.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Payment of $2,000 was made in 2013 and 2014 and $1,000 in 2015 from Council
Contingencies. Prior to 2013, the Juneteenth organization was funded through a line item
in the budget.
BACKGROUND:
The Juneteenth Celebration is held to remember and celebrate the freedom of African

Americans resulting from passage of the 13 amendment to the US constitution. Council
President Stephen G. Nawrocki is requesting $1,000 to sponsor the Juneteenth
Celebration “2016” event to be held on June 16, 2016.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2016 General Fund Budget to the Juneteenth Organization of Pueblo, Inc.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
Not Applicable.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
Not Applicable.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to fund this event for 2016.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council President Stephen G. Nawrocki.
