HomeMy WebLinkAbout13392 RESOLUTION NO. 13392 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The following individual is hereby appointed to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority for a five-year term expiring February 1, 2021. Meagan Koncilja SECTION 2. The following individuals are hereby appointed to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority to complete the five-year terms expiring February 1, 2018. David Abeyta Patrick Avalos SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. INTRODUCED February 22, 2016 BY: Chris Nicoll City Clerk’s Office Item # Q-1 Background Paper for Proposed RESOLUTION COUNCIL MEETING DATE: February 22, 2016 TO: President Steve Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PUEBLO URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY SUMMARY: This Resolution appoints a total of three members to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority, one for a five-year term expiring on February 1, 2021 and two to complete five year terms expiring on February 1, 2018. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority are made on an annual basis selecting st individuals to serve five-year terms expiring on February 1 of each year. BACKGROUND: Due to the term expiration of member Megan Murillo, there exists an appointment to be made for the term expiring on February 1, 2016. Ms. Murillo has indicated she does not wish to be considered for reappointment. The Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority received two resignations from Mr. Daniel Ramos and Ms. Dawn DiPrince. Due to these resignations there exists two appointments to be made for terms expiring February 1, 2018. Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain on January 10, 2016 and an announcement on the City Clerk’s webpage seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were received from the following individuals: David Abeyta -- Resident of the City of Pueblo  Patrick Avalos -- Resident of the City of Pueblo  Meagan Koncilja -- Resident of the City of Pueblo  Rudolph Martinez -- Resident of the City of Pueblo  Jimmy Newmoon Roybal -- Resident of the City of Pueblo  Council member Lori Winner reviewed applications, interviewed the candidates, and recommends Meagan Koncilja be appointed for the five year term expiring February 1, 2021 and David Abeyta and Patrick Avalos be appointed to complete the two terms expiring February 1, 2018. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: NONE STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: NONE ALTERNATIVES: Council could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be extended, and order the public notice for applications be republished in order to receive additional applications for consideration.
