January 6th 2016 RE:Superfund Neighborhood Visioning Workshop Dear Council Members: The Superfund Neighborhoods Vitalization Project Workgroup is an independent group of concerned citizens with a mission of keeping our superfund neighborhoods great. As we all know, the EPA superfund designation has had an impact on Bojon Town/Eiler Heights,The Grove and a portion of Bessemer. One of our upcoming events, in partnership with the City of Pueblo, is a "Visioning Workshop" scheduled for Saturday, February 20th 2016 and open to all the 1900 residents and business owners in the current superfund boundary. The goal of this workshop is to get direct input from residents and business owners that live and work in the superfund area to better understand what they would like to see implemented to keep their neighborhood vital. This information will then be forwarded to the EPA for use in their community visioning workshop scheduled for the spring of 2016. Secondly, this event is intended to make people aware of where the superfund boundary temporarily exists. Finally, this event will be the conduit to get more residents and business owners involved and participating in the EPA meetings and processes. We are requesting$1,900 to be used for mailings and flyers to ensure a successful, great event. Thank you for your consideration. We hope that every council member can attend this event where council can get firsthand information on what people want in their neighborhood.
