HomeMy WebLinkAbout13355RESOLUTION NO. 13355 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES BETWEEN PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND HORD COPLAN MACHT ARCHITECTS, RELATING TO THE GOODNIGHT BARN RESTORATION PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME WHEREAS, Slaterpaull Architects, aka Hord Coplan Macht Architects, has been selected to provide professional services for the Goodnight Barn Restoration Project; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Agreement for Professional Architectural Services dated December 28, 2015, between the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and Hord Coplan Macht Architects of which a copy is attached hereto and on file at the office of the City Clerk, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The President of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the said Agreement on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the Seal of the City thereto and attest same. SECTION 3. Funds in the amount of $37,540 for said professional services shall be paid from Capital Project PL1405. SECTION 4. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of the Resolution and Contract to effectuate the policies and procedures described therein. SECTION 5. This Resolution shall become effective January 1, 2016, upon final passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk FROM: Steven Meier, Director of Planning and Community Development SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES BETWEEN PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND HORD COPLAN MACHT ARCHITECTS, RELATING TO THE GOODNIGHT BARN RESTORATION PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE SAME SUMMARY: Hord Coplan Macht Architects, aka Slaterpaull Architects, will complete the restoration plans and specifications for the Goodnight Barn. The plans and specifications are needed to apply for a grant to the State Historical Fund due on April 1, 2016 to assist in the cost of restoration work. The architectural scope will include a phasing plan and restoration cost estimate. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The Pueblo City Council awarded a construction contract in the amount of $34,246 to Arc Valley Construction, Inc. for the stabilization of the stone barn structure. Resolution No. 13287 on August 24, 2015. BACKGROUND: The City of Pueblo has completed the stabilization of the Goodnight Barn. The architectural services for the restoration plans, specifications and construction estimate are needed to apply for various capital construction grants to help fund the restoration of the Goodnight Barn. One of the main grants for restoration funds is the State Historical Fund due on April 1, 2016. This contract will allow the City to hire Hord Coplan Macht Architects to provide the construction documents for the restoration of the Goodnight Barn. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $37,540 shall be paid from Capital Project No. PL1405. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: No Board or Commission recommendation. The City Manager and City Council have been briefed on the progress of the project. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: The Goodnight Barn Stakeholders have strongly recommended funding for the restoration. ALTERNATIVES: Denial of this Resolution will result in cancellation of the project. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution.
