HomeMy WebLinkAbout13276RESOLUTION NO. 13276 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION (CSAC) – JOINT CITY/COUNTY APPOINTMENTS WHEREAS, there are (5) vacancies to be filled on the Community Services Advisory Commission – Joint City/County appointments. One appointment shall complete the term expiring April 30, 2018 and four appointments are for 4-year terms expiring April 30, 2019; and WHEREAS, this Resolution ratifies the joint appointments made following the PACOG meeting on April 23, 2015, by City/County Representatives who were present; NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1: The following applicant is hereby appointed to the Community Services Advisory Commission – Joint City/County Appointments to complete the four-year term expiring April 30, 2018 vacated due to the resignation of Barbara Bernard: Abel Gebre Laeke SECTION 2: The following applicants are hereby appointed to the Community Services Advisory Commission – Joint City/County Appointments for 4-year terms expiring April 30, 2019: Kate Shafer Barbara Vidmar Cynthia Fuentes Terry Baughman SECTION 3: The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: City Clerk’s Office FROM: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION (CSAC) – JOINT CITY-COUNTY APPOINTMENTS SUMMARY: This Resolution ratifies the appointments of five City County members to the Community Services Advisory Commission PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Appointments to the CSAC are made on an annual basis selecting individuals to serve four-year th terms expiring on April 30 of each year. BACKGROUND: The Community Services Advisory Commission studies the needs of the community in the areas of health and human services, recreation, arts and culture, environmental/conservation and economic development; reviews and analyzes proposals that are submitted to the Pueblo County and City of Pueblo Partnership during the annual Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including conducting interviews and performing site visits of agencies submitting proposals; makes final recommendations to the City and County officials for funding consideration on an annual basis, or as needed in an emergency situation; and works on other issues and projects as assigned to them by the Public Officials. Due to the expiration of four 4-year terms and one vacancy that was created by a resignation, there are a total of five City/County joint appointments that need to be made. Following the PACOG meeting on April 23, 2015, members who were present selected the following individuals for appointment:  Abel Laeke to fill the term expiring April 30, 2018, vacated due to the resignation of Barbara Bernard  Kate Shafer – reappointment for a term expiring April 30, 2019  Barbara Vidmar - reappointment for a term expiring April 30, 2019  Cynthia Ortiz Fuentes - reappointment for a term expiring April 30, 2019  Mary Agnes Leonard – new appointment for a term expiring April 30, 2019 Public notices were published on March 19, 2015 in the Pueblo Chieftain asking for interested individuals to apply for the CSAC Board. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This is a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: None – This Resolution Ratifies the selections made following the April 23, 2015 PACOG Meeting RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
