HomeMy WebLinkAbout08874ORDINANCE NO. 8874 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING PROJECT PL1306, PUEBLO CITY HALL INTERIOR REHABILIATION AND REMODEL PROJECT, BY THE AMOUNT OF $200,000 AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFORE WHEREAS, the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority has offered funds through a Design and Construction Agreement for Memorial Hall, Ordinance No. 8305; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Funds from the Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority, pursuant to the Design and Construction Agreement, in the amount of $200,000 are hereby budgeted and appropriated for the City Hall Interior Rehabilitation and Remodel, PL1306. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are directed and authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of the Ordinance to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final passage and approval. Nawrocki and Members of City Council CC: Sam Azad, City Manager VIA: Gina Dutcher, City Clerk FROM: Steven Meier, Director of Planning and Community Development SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE INCREASING PROJECT PL1306, PUEBLO CITY HALL INTERIOR REHABILIATION AND REMODEL PROJECT, BY THE AMOUNT OF $200,000 AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFORE SUMMARY: The Pueblo City Hall Interior Rehabilitation and Remodel Project requires additional funds in the amount of $200,000 for project costs relating to the new Prefunction Room. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The Pueblo City Council is executing an Ordinance to increase and budget and appropriate funds in the amount of $510,000. City Council was awarded an Energy Mineral Impact Assistance Fund grant from the State of Colorado, Department of Local Affairs in the amount of $600,000 relating to the Pueblo City Hall Renovation Project, Final Phase. The City provided the local match in the amount of $500,000 along with accepting a $50,000 grant from the Boetcher Foundation and a $50,000 grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation for the City Hall Project. BACKGROUND: The City Planning and Public Works Departments are requesting an additional $200,000 for the Pueblo City Hall Interior Rehabilitation and Remodel Project, PL1306 to pay for project costs relating to the Prefunction Room associated with Memorial Hall. The $200,000 will count as a local match for a recently submitted DOLA supplemental grant request for the Project. The Project will complete the renovation and rehabilitation of the second floor, first floor and lower level of City Hall. The Project construction is tentatively scheduled for June of 2015 with the completion in December 2015. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $200,000 shall be from excess vendor fees from the Memorial Hall Bond Redemption Fund. The Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority has offered the funds through a Design and Construction Agreement for Memorial Hall, Ordinance No. 8305. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: No Board or Commission recommendation. The City Manager and City Council have been briefed on the progress of the Project. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: City Council and City staff are the Stakeholders. ALTERNATIVES: The Project would take longer and cost more money if the additional funds are not approved. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Ordinance.
